It does matter because his whole reflection is just based on his crushed ego. Exactly the same case when he started complaining about the previews and the demo for E3 because his game was criticized by the press.

Any constructive reflection should be done objectively and not pushed by a strong emotion aginst some people or a system.

And Denis talks well with nice reference but his argument his biased.
For example he started with the ethics of work and how silicon knights is ethical and the other companies not. The fact is that there is close to no connection with the subject. It's just a fallacy. nobody will say he is wrong on this point so his whole argument should be correct. It's just manipulation.
And the podcast continue in the same vein. You can agree to a lot of things in what he said, but it doesn't mean he is right at the end.

And at the end the cloud of "closing NeoGAF" appear even if he said he doesnn't want that. But he says it and after this is in the mind of everybody. So he threats NeoGAF without saying it. It's totally childish.

"how really effective all this is. I mean, who read video games forums and reviews…?"

Well you have to see the communication as a chain because people talk to each others. The only information channel is not just the shops and advertisment (the ones that the publisher prefer because they control them). People often buy a game because they heard about it through their friends and colleagues. The friends maybe know an other friend, that have a friend that read kotaku and will discover neogaf and so realize the game is not really appreciated in the community. And this person will spread the message.
This is how a message propagate, and it works well especially for bad publicity. This is why ad agency become more and more about buzz control.

(..)if the buzz around Too Human was positive and NeoGAF was praising the game he would never had the idea to create such topic and would be pretty happy how fans can support his game(..)

Probably... but does it matter ?
is the point here is why this all started, hum probably not. He have some interesting point though and he is reading cool books :).
personnally, it's enought for me :)

on a commercial point of view, he is defending his game the best he can because he is not part of the automatic "media stream" when a product is decided to be good and pushed by media.

my thoughts when cheking all this little turbulence in an ocean, are much more: how really effective all this is. I mean, who read video games forums and reviews...? well, nobody, so i think more and more that teenagers or "geeks" (like Laurent fisher VP of Nintendo europs) calls them are really what they are, and don't impact anymore or at all your product, if from scratch, your product is maint to be for a general audience or is simply good.

Who cares if 10.000 people are bitching on your game, if 1.000.000 are enjoying it? (and are good for them and the society at the same time to add my personnal point of view :).

well, alright, technicly, i took the best 20 inch available last week, because the 24 was just to big :P...
But i loved it too (after having to bring back my first broken one.), Boocamp is working perfectly for games and mac os as default system for the rest. Awesome :)
